Week 3

3 weeks in and just 3 teams hold a 100% record.  Last year’s champions have made a stellar start to the defence of their title as The Madhouse G Men go 3 from 3 along with Oldmans Cowboys and Le’veon on a Prayer.  All 3 are looking strong contenders this season.  The divisions look evenly spread too with 4 winning records and 4 losing records in each.
Show Me The Packers (1-2) beat Aldon Smith’s Driving School (1-2) 130.42 – 83.38

After the cruelest of defeats in week 2, Show Me The Packers came fighting back with a storming victory to get their first win of the 2017 season.  Despite the early season hiatus from Coach Fleming leaving the IR’d Danny Woodhead in the starting line up his team put up a more than credible 83 points which would have been good enough to beat 10 teams this week, it wasn’t however good enough to beat the only one that mattered as the Packers stormed to 130 points for a comfortable win.  The week got off to a flying start for coach McDerment as Watkins and Hyde combined for over 40 points on Thursday night.  The pressure has been rife on McDerment after a woeful 2016 was followed up with 2 losses to start the new season.  There had been questions specifically asked about first round draft pick TY Hilton and rumours were circling of an early season change.  McDerment gave his confidence to TY though and he delivered this week with over 150 yards and his first score of the year to add to the Thursday night haul and help the Packers to the 2nd best score of the week.  The comeback could be short lived though as they run into the 3-0 Oldmans Cowboys in week 4 however if they can pull of a shock win it will bring the Packers right back into the playoff hunt.  All is far from lost for Coach Fleming either.  1-2 is not a disaster and if his hiatus ends and he finds a good replacement for Woodhead to go with Howard, Thomas baldwin Shepherd and Newton they could easily get on a winning run.  With a week 3 matchup against the 0-3 Bhoys are back in town Fleming will hope to get back to .500 after 4 weeks and in the hunt also.
Oldmans Cowboys (3-0) beat Varsity Blues Changed my Life (0-3) 118.40 – 60.66

This time last season Varsity Blues were proudly sitting 3-0 and looking the team to beat.  The difference a year can make.  Whilst Oldmans Cowboys were once again notching triple digits, Varisty struggled to break the 60 mark to send them to the bottom of the NFC and Cowboys to the opposite end.  Coach Groat replaced the IR’d Robinson with his replacement Hurns and Groat will be encoraged that he did score however he could only manage 20 yards and with Lamaar Miller Matt Ryan and Melvin Gordon failing to score big points they couldn’t keep up with the free scoring Cowboys.  At 0-3 Varsity will really need to get off the mark sooner rather than later if they are to get into the playoff race but it doesn’t get easier as they face a rejuvinated In Baxter We Trust in week 4.  The Cowboys meanwhile march on to the top of the NFC as they confirm their favouritism with another high scoring performance.  Coach Purves made just 1 change from week 2 with patience running out on Jeremy Hill being replaced by Garcon.  Garcon duly delivered with 14 points and with Elliot getting back to semi normal and Hunt looking more and more like he’ll be the fantasy player of the year things couldn’t really be looking better for Purves.  With a favourable week 4 matchup against Show Me The Packers, Purves will be confident of going 4-0 and putting 1 foot in the playoffs before the half way stage.  He’ll be praying he goes 4-0 too cause a 3 hour car ride to Nairn with McDerment the following Saturday will be a LONG 3 hours should he lose!!!!
Tartan Bears (1-2) beat In Baxter We Trust (2-1) 76.52 – 74.10

Karma my friends, can be a wonderful wonderful thing.  Whilst it wasn’t 0.08pts, In Baxter We Trust tasted defeat for the first time in 2017 with a tight 2 point loss to Tartan Bears.  The Bears got their 2017 campaign off and running with the victory which sees them jump to 3rd in the NFC and right in the thick of things.  Coach Bain made just 1 change to the team that scored pretty well in their week 2 defeat and it almost cost him the win.  Replacing kicker Hauschka for Santos cost him 12 points in the week and with franchise back Ajayi only managing 2.50pts it was looking bleak for Bain but with Taylor, McCaffery, Thomas and the Ciefs D all scoring double digits it was enough to see off In Baxter We Trust.  Coach Baxter will be disappointed with his teams performance in week 3.  After a great start to the year, Montgomery, Evans and new signing Lynch all struggled in week 3.  It wasn’t all bad news for Baxter though as franchise Receiver AJ Green finally got his season going with 17 points and with Mariota looking like he’s going to be chucking in plenty of points week on week with another 20 + score it is still a strong looking squad.  With a week 4 tie against 0-3 Varsity Blues, Baxter will be looking to go 3-1 and keep the playoff spot they currently hold.  The Bears meanwhile run into the 3-0 Le’Veon on a prayer as they look to get back to .500.
Le’Veon on a Prayer (3-0) beat Farqs Flying Eagles (1-2) 105.30 – 80.34

Le’Veon on a Prayer showed their opening 2 victories were no flukes as they march on to 3-0 with a comfortable victory over Farqs Flying Eagles.  What a start to the 2017 season its been for Coach Amos as  his unchanged side score triple digits for the 2nd week in a row.  Who needs receivers when you have a rookie back in Fournette, who found the end zone for the 3rd week in a row, a comeback backs in Gurley, who went in 3 times to romp to over 30 pts and a quarterback in Cousins who also went for over 30 pts to storm Le’veon to the win.  With more surely to come from Pryor and Adams and 3 wins in the bag already 2017 is looking to be a good year for Amos as he chases a playoff spot for the first time.  Can they go 4-0?  they will have to get through Tartan Bears to do so.  After an opening win, Farqs have now lost 2 in a row but Coach Farqhuar is experienced enough to know ow quickly things can change at scoring over 80 points is far from terrible.  Jordi Nelson’s injury proved to be nothing which will be a massive relief for Farquhar and with Gronk getting stronger as the weeks go on, Cobb to come back from injury and surely better weeks ahead for Crabtree, Mixon and Wentz a win is surely not far away.  Farquhar will be hoping the losing treak stops at 2 but it wont be easy with a week 4 tie against defending champs The Madhouse G Men.
Scheme Team (2-1) beat Bhoys Are Back in Town (0-3) 77.50 – 59.62

After the tightest of wins in week 2, Scheme Team had a much more comfortable W in week 3 as they saw off Bhoys are back in Town by 18 points.  Coach Pirie will be delighted to be sitting 2-1 after the lost of franchise back David Johnson and with replacement Chris Thomson powering to over 20 points for the 2nd week in a row Johnson has not been missed as yet.  Pirie stuck with Smith at QB after his stellar start but he was outscored this week by the benched Prescott and that will leave Pirie with a nice week 4 selection headache.  With receivers Hill and Jackson both going well again its all looking up in camp Scheme Team.  Who’d have thought after a week 1 loss and the DJ injury that things would be so rosy 2 weeks later?  They will look to take the winning streak to 3 and confirm their AFC 2nd spot against the chasing Bluetoon Patriots.  Coach Herculson’s 2017 struggles continue as he finds his Bhoys in bottom spot in the NFC and a long road tough road ahead to get anything out of their sophomore year.  Despite not reaching 60 points in week 2, Herculson kept the starting line up in the main and they failed to deliver once again.  Rodgers done better breaking 20 points and Blount managed to find the end zone but that is whre the good news ends.  The rest of the team were outscored combined by the kicker meaning another sub 60 score and another loss.  Herculson will no doubt be scouring the agency frantically looking for someone to spark their season to life.  Its been done before and its far from over at this stage but the spark needs to come soon.  Herculson will be hoping Coach Fleming’s hiatus extends 1 more week as they face his Aldon Smiths Driving School in week 4.
The Madhouse G Men (3-0) beat Batmans Boobies (0-3) 88.12 – 63.16

Last week i asked the question can anyone stop The Madhouse  Men as they continue to dominate in Show Me The Money.  Well Batmans Boobies certainly couldn’t as the G Men stay 100% in 2017 with Boobies going the other way to 0-3.  Coach Edwards was in attendance as his Jags Defence got his week off to a good early Sunday start and with Bell getting his best score of the season with 15 and the GOAT being his awesome best that was all Edwards required to notch win 3 of the title defence.  This despite over 65 back and receiver points on the bench in Duke Johnson, Fitzgerald and Diggs the handicap committee are rumored to be preparing to meet to discuss Edward’s first pick coming in round 32 rather than 16 in 2018 to even things up a bit.  The next lamb to the slaughter in Farqs Flying Eagles as the G Men look to take the streak to 4.  After 2 poor weeks Coach O’Neill lost patience with star back Demarco Murray and Murray responded by turning in a healthy 18 points making you think O’Neill will return Murray to the starting line up with a little egg on face in week 4.  With Britt, Bernard and Gore finding the end zone, Stafford again looking decent and star receiver Cooper around you have to think Boobies will get up and running sooner or later but luck is not something O’Neill seems to have a whole lot of.  They’ll need to find some in week 4 as they face an opponent with a winning record in Kirkwall Raiders.
Bluetoon Patriots (1-2) beat Copenbadly Jets (2-1) 131.42 – 56.50

In life, in sport, in everything really, there is always someone, some team, some thing, that no matter what you do you jsut can’t seem toget the better of.  You might be much better.  You might be much worse, it doesn’t matter you just can’t beat em no matter what you do. It always seems to be the most annoying thing / person / team that it is too (although i cannot comment on that in this instance) After a tremendous rookie year Bluetoon Patriots have stumbled to 2 opening losses in 2016.  In the meantime, after a disappointing 2016, city rivals Copenbadly Jets were flying in 2017 with 2 great wins to open and confidence flowing.  So and easy win for the Jets then in this week 3 matchup yes? WRONG…….Much like their 2016 matchup Bluetoon got the better of Copenbadly once more as they got their 2017 season firing with  a spectacular 131 points.  Franchise Receiver OBJ finally got going with a 19 point haul and with Wilson going for over 40 and Cook, Tate and Cohen all getting double digits thing are very much looking up for Bluetoon as they try to recover from the stuttering start.  If they can get the better of Kirkwall Raiders and get back to .500 in week 4 Coach Bruce will all but forget about the first 2 weeks and will have a great shout of repeating their playoff appearance in 2016.  Coach Wemyss will be glad to see the back of his City rivals for the regular season and sitting 3rd in the AFC still with the likes of Big Ben, Shady McCoy and Julio Jones in the dressing room he will be hoping to get a chance of revenge in the post season.  Looking to get back to winning ways, Wemyss takes his Jets down South for a week 4 tie aganst Red Hot Julius Peppers.

Red Hot Julius Peppers (1-2) beat Kirkwall Raiders (2-1) 75.48 – 62.62

As promised in the week 2 review, It didn’t take long and Red Hot Julius Peppers are up and running in 2017 as they beat Kirkwall Raiders for their first win of the season.  Coach Douglass brought in rookie back Carson for his first start of the season and he returned a healthy 11 points to help Red Hot to the tight victory.  Bradon Cooks announced himself to the Patriots fans properly with a 27 point night and despite not finding the end zone, Douglass will be encouraged by the yards picked up by Coleman and Hopkins.  With franchise receiver Bryant and QB Rivers to have better nights things are not close to as gloom and doom as they seemed.  A week 4 win over Copenbadly Jets would throw Red Hot right back into the playoff race with plenty of weeks left for Douglass to show his agency expertise and push for a 4th playoff appearance in a row.  Coach Sim suffered his first loss of the 2017 as QB Carr, Back Crowell and end Thomas had off weeks and receiver Benjamin picked up an injury to rub salt into the wounds.  Franchise Receiver Brown banked his usual haul though and Chris Hogan is looking better and better as a Patriot so Sim will not be panicking just yet as they sit with a winning 2-1 record and a week 4 favourable matchup against the 0-3 Batmans Boobies.  If they can beat boobies and get to 3-1 after 4 weeks they will be in a fantastic position to launch a push for their first ever playoff place.

Week 2

So we are 2 weeks into the season now and already some teams are looking like playoff certainties and others are staring a long hard season in the face.  6 teams have managed to get the best possible start with 2 wins out of 2 and these 6 will very much be looking to make a run in 2017 whilst another 6 have had the ultimate disaster in an 0-2 and have much work to do over the coming weeks to drag themselves back into the hunt.
Kirkwall Raiders (2-0) beat Buetoon Patriots (0-2) 76.60 – 55.82
Kirkwall Raiders moved to a perfect 2-0 with a convincing win over Bluetoon Patriots.  Coach Sim will be delighted to get the W in a week that saw star players Antonio Brown and Isaiah Crowell not doing a whole lot again.  A lot was expected from Crowell this season with a stunning O Line to run behind but this has not been evident in the first 2 weeks and with Brown yet to hit the endzone, Sim must be over the moon to have 2 wins on the board.  Once again Carr at QB led the way with an impressive 27 points and with Chris Hogan having a good day in the absence of Amendola it was enough to see Raiders over the line.  Sooner rather than later you would expect Crowell, Brown and indeed Eifert to start racking up the points an when they do Kirkwall Raiders could just be a team to watch for.  For Coach Bruce however its not been a great start to the season at all.  It was never going to be easy to follow up a great 2016 with such a late pick in the draft and after an 0-2 start Bruce will be desperate to get a win on the board in week 3.  Its not all doom and gloom though for Bluetoon.  Star receiver OBJ took his belated 2017 bow and whilst he could only muster 35 yards, Bruce must be delighted to see him on the field.  It was a slow day also for rookie back Dalvin Cook but he seen plenty of touches still and with OBJ back, Cook looking a bell cow and the likes of Cohen, Parker and Ingram in the squad it shouldn’t be too long before Bluetoon get back to winning ways.  They will attempt to do so in week 3 against Copenbadly Jets whilst Kirkwall Raiders go for 3 in a row against Red Hot Julius Peppers.
The Mad House G Men (2-0) beat Red Hot Julius Peppers (0-2) 107.18 .- 72.44
Can anyone stop the Juggernaut that is The Mad House G Men? If i didn’t see it with my own eyes i’m not sure i’d believe it. As if scoring the 3rd highest points total of week 1 the defending champions went 2 better to be highest scorers in week 2 and hand another beating to Red Hot Julius Peppers.  Coach Edwards made just 1 change to the team that won in week 1 and unsurprisingly it was the right move, bringing in Sanu and benching Diggs to add an extra 5 points to the haul.  Last week i said Edwards was a Bryant taking off from being favourite to retain his title.  Well a 15.80 point pick up from Bryant in week 2 and the G Men are installed as favourites to retain without a doubt.  Edwards really is becoming the Bill Bellichek of Show Me The Money.  Red Hot, As always, put up a fight at least with a respectable score in the 70s but ultimately the lack of touchdowns let Coach Douglass down and he’ll be needing a whole lot more from stars Cooks and Olsen in future weeks if he is to stop the rot and get a W on the board.  Douglass must be sick of the sight of the G Men.  So often they’ve clashed and Superbowl II aside Edwards always seems to find the win.  After a close loss in week 1 Douglass stuck to the same starting line up but it didn’t fare much better and Red Hot’s 100% playoff participation record looks decidedly under threat.  It has been before though and Douglass has always came good.  He will know only too well that first win could kick start a run.  Red Hot will face off against unbeaten Kirkwall Raiders in week 3 whilst the G Men hope to make it 3 out of 3 against Batmans Boobies.
Copenbadly Jets (2-0) beat Bhoys are Back in Town (0-2) 98.72-59.22

Copenbadly Jets made it 2 for 2 by thumping Bhoys are Back in Town.  After 2 year struggling in the bottom half of the table Coach Wemyss really seems to have found his feet in 2017.  Despite a successful open week Wemyss made 3 changes to his first 9.  Landry returned from bye wekk to replace ginn whilst the kickers were switched and he made a shock switch at QB dropping Palmer to bring in Big Ben.  All 3 making their Jets debuts outscored the guys they replaced to help Copenbadly to the comfortable victory.  Wemyss i’m sure will be very happy with his week 2 work and will surely take that confidence into the coming weeks and will hope to turn the great start into a first playoff appearance.  Bhoys are Back in Town are heading in the other direction.  Coach Herculson’s nightmare in the draft was compounded by Blount not getting a single touch of the ball and other back Sims getting negative points after fumbling one of only 2 touches.  Herculson made 3 changes and whilst bringing in Witten for Reid paid off, The packer d for the falcons d did not.  With Rodgers “only” scoring 19 points Bhoys were resigned to their 2nd loss of the season and a 2nd bite at the playoff cherry looks a long way away.  They will go after their first win of the year against Scheme Team while Copenbadly go for a third straight win against Bluetoon Patriots.
Le’Veon a Prayer (2-0) beat Batmans Boobies (0-2) 101.86 – 51.88
Le’Veon on a Prayer were another team to make to 2 out of 2 with a comprehensive victory over Batmans Boobies.  Coach Amos struggled in his rookie season however looks all the stronger for it as Le’Veon followed up a tight 2 point week 1 win with a triple digit score to make it a perfect start to their sophomore season.  Other than an enforced switch and tight end, Amos stuck to the week 1 team and they repaid his confidence with a fantastic score to leave Batmans chasing shadows right from the get go as the Texan’s d outscored Batman’s back Bernard by 7 points.  With Gurely and Fournette each finding the endzone for the 2nd week in a row and a potential injury to Nelson elevating Adams in the Packer pecking order Amos is looking strong in 2017.  Coach O’Neil fielded the same 9 that lost in week 1 and again they failed to fire on all cylinders with star players Cooper Murray and Britt failing to hit double figures combined.  Its a long way to the playoffs from 0-2 but its far from impossible.  If Batmans are to make their first appearance in 2017 O’Neil will need these 3 to start scoring the points they are capable of soon.  As always seems to be the way, when you’re down the gods kick you and week 3 see’s Batmans face the impossible task of trying to find a way to beat the unbeatable in The Mad House G Men.  Le’von cross divisions to take on the NFC’s Farqs Flying Eagles.
In Baxter We Trust (2-0) beat Farqs Flying Eagles (1-1) 101.80 – 78.02

In Baxter We Trust beat Farqs Flying Eagles.  Big Woop.
Oldmans Cowboys (2-0) beat Aldon Smiths Driving School (1-1) 93.84 – 53.32

Oldmans Cowboys confirmed their week 1 promise, making it 2 in a row by beating Aldon Smiths Driving School.  Coach Purves stayed true to the first team that banked him the highest score of week 1 and they delivered once more to ensure Oldmans remain unbeaten going into week 3.  Elliot had his worst ever week in the NFL but it didn’t matter as Hunt proved he’s no 1 week wonder and with old faithfuls Brees and Allen again chipping in with good numbers and the Raven’s d looking one of the best in the game this year Purves will be looking for another shot at the playoffs in 2017.  Coach Fleming got off to a great start in week 1 but he got caught sleeping in week 2 failing to notice Danny Woodhead going on IR.  With Woodhead holding a starting berth and Howard failing to get anything in Tampa it was too much to overcome and Aldon’s fell to their first loss of the season.  With Woodhead out and no other available backs Fleming must now look to agency to replace Woodhead, at least until week 5 when Fleming will see the return of Doug Martin from Suspension.  Oldmans will hope to go 3 from 3 in week 3 against Varsity Blues Changed my Life while Aldon’s will debut their new running back, whoever that may be, against Show me The Packers.
Tartan Bears (1-1) beat Varsity Blues Changed My Life (0-2) 87.70 – 65.98

Tartan Bears got their 2017 season off and running with a good victory over Varsity Blues Changed My Life.  Coach Bain welcomed back franchise back Ajayi from bye week and he delivered a decent 12 point return.  This was Bain’s only change from week 1 as his team bounced back from an unlucky week 1 loss to deliver a better than average 88 points which proved more than ample to get off the board.  With Jeffery looking settled in the Eagles reciever corp already and the lieks of McCaffery Gilleslie Thomas and Walker kicking around Bain will be hopeful his 2017 effort can land him in a playoff spot for the first time.  After starting 2016 win a winning run, Its a complete 180 for Varsity Blues.  Coach Groat has yet to see his star players really fire as yet and that has resulted in 2 losses to start his 2017 campaign.  With Rawls on the return from injury, Groat made a rash trade with In Baxter we trust giving up the Beast Marshawn Lynch in an attempt to strengthen his receivers with Cory Cloeman of the Browns (yes i said the Browns).  Well not only did Coleman bust out to 4 yards in week 2 but the worse news is he’s about to hit IR after suffering a season ending injury.  It never rains and all that……..Despite this moment of madness though Groat’s squad is far from hopless and they are more than capable of making a run for the playoffs yet.  Varsity will look for the first win of the year against Oldmans Cowboys in week 3 whilst Tartan Bears will hope to start a winning run against In Baxter We Trust.
Scheme Team (1-1) beat Show Me The Packers (0-2) 92.14 – 92.06

0.08.  Its almost like James Bond.  If James Bond was gut wrenching pain and suffering.  Scheme Team (congratulations Alan and i apologise now if this serves more as a self obsessed rant than a report) beat Show Me The Packers by an agonizing 0.08pts to record their first win of the season.  Despite losing franchise back Johnson to IR Coach Pirie came out fighting in week 2 and was active in agency not only replacing Johnson with his Cardinals replacement Williams but also dumping week 1 starter Latavius Murray for Chris Thompson.  It was this move that made the difference as Thompson went for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns (i mean what the fuck!!!!!!) to steer Scheme Team to the narrowest of victorys.  For Coach McDerment, well, I don’t really know what to say.  If it wasn’t for bad luck, there’d be na luck.  I mean seriously.  0.08.  Have i said 0.08 before?  It was better than week 1 i guess.  Winston and Rodgers came off bye week and done ok (simien done better though) but what chance have you got when your kicker has a gimmie with a minute to go and the fuckers run the clock and give the ball back.  I mean give me strength lord almighty.  Week 3 will see Scheme Team hopefully beat Bhoys are Back in Town so i can say something nicer about their win whilst Show Me The Packers will likely loss 6 players to IR on the way to losing to Aldon Smiths Driving School.  0.08.  I mean fucking 0.08.  FFS
Ok, i guess i got to……
In Baxter We Trust (2-0) beat Farqs Flying Eagles 101.80 – 78.02 – V2

In Baxter We Trust made it a 100% start to 2017 as they……………………..nope sorry guys, can’t bring myself to do it.
Ok, In Respect for Graeme, Here it is…..
In Baxter We Trust (2-0) beat Farqs Flying Eagles 101.80 – 78.02

In Baxter We Trust are another to make it 2 for 2 as they notched triple digits to beat Fars Flying Eagles.  After years in the Wilderness Coach Baxter is finally standing up and how.  After scoring nearly a ton in week 1 they eclipsed the ton in week 2 to announce their playoff contention in spectacular fashion.  Baxter welcomed trade back Lynch to the starting team and Lynch repaid the faith immediately with double digits.  With Lynch looking good and Montgomery and West looking bell cows Baxter’s back now look almost as strong as his 1st round Evans and franchised Green.  Baxter’s squad looks strong and ready to make a push for the title.  God.  Please.  No.  Coach Farquhar suffered his first loss of the season but the bigger loss might just be Jordi Nelson.  The star receiver went off to injury in the first quarter and didn’t return and with the Packers still uiet on the extent of the injury, Farquhar will be watching Packer news closely in the coming week praying its nothing serious.  He’ll be hoping Nelson makes it for his week 3 matchup against Le’Von on a Pray whilst In Baxter We Trust will hopefully fall for the first time this season against Tartan Bears.

Week 1 review

At last we are off and running in the Show Me The Money 2017 season.  Congratulations to Mark, Sean F, Graeme, Graham, Dou, Sean D, Alan S and Johnny seasons off to the best possible start with a week 1 victory.  With the regular season cut to just 13 matches this season every win is going to be crucial so for the other 8 the battle starts now.  7 wins should be enough to see playoff action this year but 7 wins is a long way away at this stage of the season.
Copenbadly Jets beat Show Me The Packers 80.76 – 69.66
After a disappointing 2016, Copenbadly Jets got their 2017 season off to a flyer with a comfortable victory over Show Me The Packers.  Coach Wemyss obviously done his homework in the off season and with Julio Jones and Shady McCoy leading the team he will be hoping for a much more productive 2017.  Jones took a backseat in the week 1 victory however and it was the Steelers defence and Vikings kicker that best supported the consistent Shady to lead Copenbadly to victory who had the luxury of JJ Nelson and Big Ben on the bench outscoring their starting counterparts.  With a week 2 match up against the woefully drafted Bhoys are Back in Town, Wemyss will be hopeful of making it 2 in 2 and really setting fire to what could be a very productive season.  The exact opposite must be said for the other side.  Coach McDerment got caught in  muddle in round 1 of the draft of all places which landed him TY Hilton in the first round.  The indecision followed throughout the draft and it shone through in week 1 scoring under 70 points.  Trevor Simien at QB scoring over 20 points made the score look at least semi respectable but it looks like another long hard season for McDerment as he attempts to carry a terrible draft effort to the playoffs.  Week 2 will see Packers face off against another veteran team chasing their first win of 2017 in Scheme team.  Is it too early to talk about must win games?  Its a long way back from 0-2 over a 13 week season so McDerment will be desperate to not find out!!!
Aldon Smiths Driving School beat Varsity Blues Changed My Life 70.54 – 70.44
In a week that there were numerous close matches, now were closer than this one as Aldon Smiths Driving School pipped Varsity Blues Changed My Life by just 0.1pts.  Varsity would have had the win without the 2 negative runs by Gordon in the 4th Quarter…..it was that close.  Its another flying start then for Aldon Smiths who had the same type of start in 2016 which led to a playoff appearance.  Coach Fleming will be looking to build on that 2016 success and grab a playoff place once again in 2017.  The draft went well for Fleming despite assistant BOT taking the reins for the majority with Newton, Howard, Thomas Baldwin and Kelce all historically good fantasy scorers and Martin and Luck still to come back from suspension and injury it could be another good year for Aldon Smiths.  Varsity Blues 2016 season saw them fly through the regular season brushing everyone aside as they went before faltering in the first round of the playoffs so Coach Groat will be disappointed to get off to a losing start in such a close manner.  Looking to push on from last season Groat invested heavily in QB Matt Ryan and Back Gordon and whilst there will no dubt be better weeks for the pair in future weks nether really excelled like the way they can in week 1 and that left the door open for Aldon Smiths to sneak the victory.  Fleming’s Aldon Smiths have a tougher outing in week 2 as they play what looks like a dream tea squad in Oldmans Cowboys whilst Groat’s Varsity Blues will look to get off the mark against Tartan Bears.
Farqs Flying Eagles beat Tartan Bears 98.58 – 78.76
Tartan Bears can count themselves more than a little unfortunate at scoring the 6th highest points total of the week and still ended up on the losing side as Farqs Flying Eagles flew to the 2nd highest score of the week to bank a week 1 victory.  Coach Farquhar looks to have had a shrewd draft pairing up the Packers top 2 receivers to go with Gronk and whilst none of them set the heather on fire in week 1 they all contributed and his very own Eagles picks done him proud with over 50 points coming from Wentz and the Eagles D alone.  After missing the playoffs in 2016 Farquhar has clearly came back fighting and will look to push on in week 2 with a matchup against fellow week 1 winners In Baxter We Trust.  For Coach Bain it might be a loss but there were a lot of positives after a disappointing 2016 season.  Back Gilleslie seems to have nailed down the goalline touches with his 3 touchdown performance on Thursday night, Taylor at QB had a great start with over 20 points and with star back Ajayi through his bye week and surely more to come from the Saints No 1 Thomas and the Panther rookie back McCaffery the future does look bright.  Bain won’t want to hit a losing run though so will look to get the first W on the board in week against Varsity Blues Changed My Life.
Oldmans Cowboys beat Scheme Team 139.54 – 75.32

Coach Purves took a big swing drafting Rookie Kareem Hunt early but it looks to have paid off in spades as he marched into Boston and ripped the Superbowl champs to pieces with nearly 250 yards and 3 touchdowns leading Oldmans Cowboys to a massive victory over Scheme Team.  Every year it happens to someone and 2017 seems to be Coach Pirie’s turn asdisaster struck and franchised star back David Johnston suffered a dislocated wrist and looks set to be out for a long time.  Pirie’s options at running back look slim but its not all doom and gloom as Prescott and Smith both looked good in week 1 and with both starting receivers Macklin and Hill finding the endzone and with Jackson and Stills coming off bye week they look like they are and air team in 2017.  If Johnston gets placed on IR Pirie can also take advantage of the new IR spot to hold Johnston in the squad and still replace him from agency.  Scheme Team will hope to get off the mark in week 2 when they come up against Show Me The Packers.  For Purves meanwhile, well………Carlsberg don’t do fantasy NFL week 1’s but……….  Not only does Hunt look like he could be the pick of the year but franchised back Zeke Elliot gets clear to play the season to partner him.  With Brees at QB and 4 No 1 receivers in both Matthews, Allen and Garcon Oldman;s Cowboys have been instantly installed as the 2017 favourites.  Purves will be wary though as Oldmans got the same start in 2016 before slipping away and despite making the playoffs couldn’t get past the first round.  Much bigger things are expected in 2017 though after the lessons learned and going into their week 2 match up against Aldon Smith’s Driving School looking to get on a streak early.
In Baxter We Trust beat Batmans Boobies 93.64 – 77.58

It is with a heavy heart and a tinge of sadness that i have to report the Cleveland Browns of Show Me The Money might just have got it right in 2017.  Promising so much from day 1 it has been nothing but utter disappointment from In Baxter We Trust but 2017 might just be different as they got off to a flying start with a great victory over the unlucky Batmans Boobies.  Coach Baxter’s wek 1 plans were thrown into disarray with the bye week being given to No 1 pick Mike Evans but his replacement Chris Coleman was an able deputy finding the endzone and scoring double digits.  With Montgomery and West looking bell cow’s and the beast coming in via the trade with Varsity Blues Baxter looks to have strength in the back positon and with Franchise pick AJ Green and No 1 drafted Evans at receiver In Baxter We Trust look to have strength all over in 2017.  That will be put to  test in week 2 when they face another strong looking team in Farqs Flying Eagles.  Batmans Boobies may have a loss on record but they can count themselves unlucky to come up against the 3rd highest scorers of the week.  QB Stafford looked great again a tough defense and star receiver Cooper picking up where he left off last year before Carr’s injury to make a game of it.  Ultimately Coach O’Neil was let down by his veteran backs Murray and Gore and his stretched for defense the Patriots.  With surely more to come for those 3 though Batmans have a better chance than ever to make a run for the playoffs.  O’Neil will hope to get a win on the board sooner rather than later but face another tough matchup in week 3 facing Le’veon On a Prayer.
Le’Veon on a Prayer beat Red Hot Julius Peppers 68.30 – 66.38

Le’Von on a Prayer started slowly in their rookie 2016 year but have started much brighter in 2017 sneaking a close 2 point victory against 2015 champions Red Hot Julius Peppers. Coach Amos franchised Todd Gurley despite a poor 2016 and he paid him back instantly by gaining nearly 100 yards and finding the endzone to lead Le’Veon to a massive week 1 victory.  Amos was also paid back instantly by his risky early pick rookie back Fournette as he broke 100 yards and also found the endzone.  It was a slower week for his receivers though neither Prior nor Adams reached double figures but these guys will have their weeks and Le’Veon look well placed to push for a playoff spot in 2017.  Coach Douglass meanwhile is, as always, on suicide watch after week 1.  With everyone on the block and ridiculous trade offers getting fired out it is full on panic mode in camp Peppers.  Lets not get too carried away though.  It was the same in 2016 and they narrowly missed a superbowl place losing to the eventual champions.  It was the same in 2015 when they won the whole shooting match.  With the trusty Rivers at quarterback and Des Bryant Brandan Cooks and Demarius Hopkins at receiver and Olsen at end Red Hot look another team looking airborne for 2017 and i’m sure it won’t be long before Red Hot get back to the winning ways they are accustomed to.  Week 2 will see them face Batmans Boobies with both teams looking to get off their seasons off and running.
Kirkwall Raiders beat Bhoys are Back In Town 63.88 – 59.24

In this week 1 Kirkwall derby it ws Kirkwall Raiders who emerged victorious in a low scoring affair over Bhoys are Back in Town.  It was a case of nearly but not quite for Coach Sim in week 1. Franchised receiver Antonio Brown went well for 182 yards but no touchdowns and QB Carr scored over points which was enough in the end to get that all important W in the matchup.  With the win on the board and surely a lot more to come from backs Crowell and Kelly Sim will be looking to make a run for the playoffs with a well balanced, well drafted squad.  I’m not so sure the same can be said for Bhoys are back in Town though.  After a tremendous rookie season saw Coach Herculson fall just short of the superbowl with a narrow semi final loss much was expected in 2017.  4 drafted players on IR later and it looks like Herculson is throwing his 2017 hopes firmly onto the shoulders of future hall of fme QB Aaron Rodgers.  After the draft day brain fart Herculson done some very good work in the free agency and with Blount looking like the eagles bell cow and Jordan Reed the man again in the capital a playoff push could still be on the cards provided Rodgers stays healthy and does what he normally does.  Bhoys will be desperate to get a win on the board and will look to do so in week 2 against Copenbady Jets while Sim takes his Kirkwall Raiders to face Bluetoon Patriots.
The Mad House G Men beat Bluetoon Patriots 95.28 – 57.42

In a repeat of last season’s superbowl it was business as usual for The Mad House G Men as they swept aside Bluetoon once again to start 2017 as they finished 2016 with a victory.  Coach Edwards defense got off to a flying start with  near 100 point haul and comfortable victory despite GOAT Tom Brady and franchised star back Bell busting out in week 1.  As normal Edwards had his homework well and truly done and late picks Diggs and the Jaguars defence were the difference in this matchup as they both went for over 20 points each.  If these 2 can keep that form up Bell and Brady will start to perform sooner rather than later and with Fitzpatrick Anderson and Rudolph all regular scorers Edwards is a Bryant taking off from being installed favourite once more despite the 16th and final pick in the draft.  Coach Bruce meanwhile has came back down to earth with a bump.  After an unbelievable rookie season was rewarded with a place in the superbowl Bruce was looking to follow up in 2017 and maybe go one further. He was dealt a massive blow for week 1 when franchised receiver OBJ was dramatically inactive leaving a big gap at receiver.  Replacement Marshall did not perform at all but OBJ wont be out long and with rookie back Cook looking to be the VIkings bell Cow, Golden Tate is again Stafford’s No 1 choice and Russell Wilson leading at QB all is far from lost in camp Bluetoon.  They will want to get that first W on the board though and will look to do so against Kirkwall Raiders in week 2.  The G Men meanwhile go from last season’s superbowl opponents to bitter rivals and 2016 superbowl opponents Red Hot Julius Peppers.

Showmethemoney Season 4 Preview

Its the morning after the night before.  Many SMTM Coaches are frantically trawling free agency looking to replace the dud’s they somehow managed to pick up in last nights draft.  Others meanwhile are sitting staring at their squad list with big cheesy grins on their faces.
The strategies have been laid.  The squads are in place and in a little over 24 hours the first game will kick off and the season will be under way.
I’ve had no suggestions regarding the pay out of the cash this season so figure I will just go nice and simple.  £150 to the winner, £100 to the runner up, £50 to 3rd place and 4th place gets £20 to cover costs of season / pay for next year.
There will be a token £40 paid to the winner of the consolation playoffs with the runner up getting free entry to the 2018 season.
The Mad House G Men defend their title in 2017 and will undoubtedly be the team to beat after a stellar draft performance from bottom of the shop 16th pick.  The Patriots of Show Me The Money they will be looking for their 3rd title in 4 years.
It won’t be easy for the G Men though.  There are 15 hungry teams lining up to take their crown and cement their place in Show Me The Money history with their names on the trophy.
The season will kick off with the Patriots against the Chiefs tomorrow night so please remember whoever reached for the Chiefs D and Tom Brady……….make sure they are starting for tomorrow night 🙂
If anyone has any questions or points please let us know.  If not good luck all for your week 1 matchup.  I will start the weekly updates and gameweek reports on Tuesday next week and one a week will be sent throughout the season as normal.

2017 a new me?

I’m not very good at these things but I thought I would give it a bash!

After losing nearly 3st last year I duly put it nearly 2 st back in the month of December so now is the time when the weather will be at it’s worst to start losing it again and more(hopefully), would like to play with my children and not be out of breath after 5 minutes or be able to play their games on the floor without needing a crane to lift me up!!

I have signed up for the  #1000miles which will be. A good incentive to get out and about even in the crappy weather, I will also be signing up for the Rousay lap(again) and the Hoy Half Marathon this year to walk them obviously as they are both pretty hilly.

I have my trusted Fitbit and will be challenging my Fitbit friends a bit more than coming down the bottom more often than not these last 2 months although getting out for a walk is a bit hard this time of year with it getting dark so early up here in Orkney and having 3 young kids that won’t even walk just over a mile to the shops!!

I did sign up for the gym near the end of last year but it wasn’t for me! I felt totally out of place there and felt like a beached whale while lying down trying to do the programme that was set up for me although I have worked out I could do quite a bit of it at home as long as I improvise and maybe do it while the kids are at school/nursery only time I will get peace no doubt)

I have now had my last fizzy drink, chocolate & crisps now so now I have to find a healthy diet for a fussy eater like myself who doesn’t like 90% of vegetables and fish!!

Now is the time to bring down the Christmas tree much to the kids disappointment

Bad Daddy(obviously)
